The term "to upgrade" is
used anytime one adds or replaces one thing on/or in their computer for
something better.
A Computer has many physical parts
(Hardware components) and Software that work together to do what you ask it to
do in a speedy manner. These components have various speeds and capacities. The
newer components in most cases have higher speeds and or higher capacities.
When you upgrade you add newer components to your computer.
In most cases upgrading your
computer will give you greater speed, storage, or additional abilities.
If you have CD-burner and wish to
burner DVD's then you would need to upgrade to a DVD burner to gain this
ability.
Computer upgrades can range from simple do-it-yourself
type projects to more complex projects that should only the handled by
Computer Technicians. Many take hours of labor and require special tools
to do properly, such as hard drive upgrades that may require
"cloning" that if not done right the first time can result in the
loss of part or all your data on the old drive.
